Audio plugins, also called music plugins, are software tools used inside a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to process or generate sound. They can emulate studio hardware such as EQs, compressors, reverbs, delays, and saturation processors, or provide virtual instruments and sound design tools. Producers and engineers use plugins to mix, master, and enhance recordings.
Audio mastering is the process of preparing a finished mix for distribution. It involves refining the overall sound of a track by adjusting EQ, compression, stereo width, and loudness. The goal is to ensure the song sounds clear and balanced on all playback systems, from headphones to streaming platforms.
Mixing and mastering are two stages of music production. Mixing focuses on balancing and processing individual tracks such as vocals, drums, and instruments. Mastering comes after mixing and enhances the final stereo track so it translates consistently across listening systems. Together, mixing and mastering audio prepare a song for release.
